ET#1 had her defense today. Andrea and i tagged along for the first part, and learned what we could about p53- the "guardian of the genome", and G3BP1 and 2 (try saying that three times fast)- binding proteins associated with cancer. Although most of the specifics were over my head, i got a much better idea of what she's been doing all this time. I also watched the people who did understand, and they seemed to be nodding along pretty regularly, and came up with some good questions at the end. During the hour et#1 was out with the jury, andrea and i hung out on a bench, walked up and down flights of stairs, took a few elevators, and eventually found our way to the party before it had even started.
